from the Stack's Bowers 2024 ANA sale, lot 46259
SB824-46259r.jpg

This specimen was lot 46259 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. 10 Pfennig, 1950-D. Munich Mint. NGC PROOF-64." This is a 1949 10 pfennig, not a 1950. The obverse legend is different. This type was produced at four mints (Munich, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe and Hamburg) in 1949 only. The Munich mint mark was "D". It is somewhat scarce compared to the later KM 108.

Recorded mintage: 140,558,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 4 g, brass plated steel, 21.5 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-103.
