This specimen was lot 6046 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. 1/2 Taler, 1724. Hall Mint. Charles VI (1711-40). NGC MS-63. Shows no bag marks or adverse handling evidence. Crisply struck with dies showing just a touch of wear but leaving quite sharp detail all the same. Medium cabinet toning throughout with considerable luster beneath." The Hall mint was an occasional emitter of half thalers in the eighteenth century. This issue is fairly common despite being a one year type. The next half thaler from Hall appeared in 1733.
Recorded mintage: 68,000.
Specification: 14.41 g, 0.875 fine silver, .405 troy oz ASW.
