This specimen was lot 25224 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $2,115. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carlos IIII 4 Escudos 1805-JP, AU50 NGC, ex. Eliasberg, a charming representative of this highly demanded denomination with rich orange-gold color that is highlighted by some light coppery blushes at the edges. Light strike doubling is noted on many of the obverse legends." This coin was minted 1792-1808 and is the most common Peruvian colonial four escudos.
