Switzerland 1913-B rappen

from the Stack's Bowers June 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 73303

This specimen was lot 73303 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $55. The catalog description^[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Rappen, 1913-B. Bern Mint. NGC MS-66 Brown. Incredibly vibrant and engaging, this Gem radiates with tremendous brilliance and exhibits some hints of violet among the brown nature." This type was struck at the Bern mint 1850-1941. This is a common date. Zinc rappen were minted during World War Two and when bronze rappen resumed in 1948, a modified design was introduced.

Recorded Mintage: 3,000,000.
