This specimen was lot 2467 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 8,000 (about US$10,541 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"50 Lire 1891. Rom. Vorzüglich-FDC. (kingdom of Italy, Umberto I, fifty lire of 1891, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This rare type is listed for three dates: 1884, 1888 and 1891. It was struck to the standard of a French fifty francs d'or.
