This specimen was lot 1910 in Goldberg sale 93 (Los Angeles, September 2016), where it sold for $11,162.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italy. 100 Lire, 1891-R PCGS AU58. Umberto I. Head left. Reverse: Crowned arms within wreath. Pop 1; 3 finer. Very Rare Date. PCGS graded AU-58." This rare type is listed for five dates during 1880-91. It was struck to the standard of a French hundred francs d'or.
