Sincona sale 69, lot 163

This specimen was lot 163 in Sincona sale 69 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 1,050 CHF (about US$1,394 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND | Frankfurt. Dukat 1654. Attraktives vorzüglich mit Prägeglanz. Leichte Überprägungsspuren. (Germany, city of Frankfurt, ducat of 1654. Attractive extremely fine with mint luster, Traces of an overstrike.)"

The SCWC divides this issue into two subtypes: eagle's head right (KM 104.2, shown here), struck 1649-60 and 1666, and eagle's head left (KM 104.1), struck 1646-49 and 1652-54.
