(empire of Austria-Hungary, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, one hundred kronen of 1909, Vienna mint. Extremely fine-uncirculated, Minor scratches.)"</blockquote> This gold coin is among the last issued before Austria's suicidal plunge into World War One. The portrait is of Francis Joseph, emperor of [[Austria]] 1848-1916. The Austro-Hungarian empire did not long survive him. Regular 100 coronas were emitted 1909-15, with the 1915 being restruck in large numbers in recent times.
