NGC AU55."</blockquote> This is a rare date of a scarce type issued 1871-87. The SCWC notes it as twice the price of the sovereign of 1871-87. This specimen was lot 1691 in Sincona sale 86 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 1,800 CHF (about US$2,424 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Victoria, 1837-1901. Half Sovereign 1885 M, Melbourne. Fifth young head, shield reverse. Very rare. NGC AU55."
