This specimen was lot 31070 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "Netherlands: Holland. Provincial gold Off-Metal 2 Stuivers 1763 MS62 NGC. A scarce striking in gold of this normally silver denomination expressing a satisfying degree of detail throughout every facet of the design, complemented by shimmering golden fields in the background." The circulation issue (KM 48) was struck in debased silver 1701-93. The gold issue (KM 48a) was struck to ducat weight 1723-66, most likely for presentation. Other minors, including the scheepjesschelling (six stuivers), were also struck in gold.
Recorded mintage: silver: 1,257,102 for 1763-64; gold: unknown.
Specification: KM 48: 1.62 g, 0.583 fine silver; KM 48a: 3.50 g, 0.986 fine gold.
