This specimen was lot 22754 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $2,350. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carl XIV Johan Riksdaler Specie 1834-CB, MS63 PCGS, light original toning with full underlying mint luster, very scarce grade for this series." This type was struck 1831-42 and most of the dates are scarce to rare. This one is the most common. Carl XIV Johan was originally Charles Bernadotte, one of Napoleon's generals. He married into the Swedish royal family and became king himself in 1818. The present dynasty is descended from him.
Recorded mintage: 68,000.
Specification: 34 g, 0.750 fine silver.
Catalog reference: KM 632, Dav-352.
