This specimen was lot 2023 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €2,200 (about US$2,842 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"KÖNIGREICH Gustav II. Adolf, 1611-1632. Riksdaler 1615, Stockholm. Variante mit großen Wappenschilden auf der Rückseite. R Min. Glättungsspuren, winz. Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schön. (kingdom of Sweden, Gustavus II Adolphus, 1611-32, riksdaler of 1615. Stockholm mint, variety with the large shield on the obverse. Scarce, mount mark, small planchet flaws, very fine.)"
This type is noted for 1615-16 in several varieties, all scarce. It was issued prior to Sweden's entry into the Thirty Years War which would claim the king's life.
Recorded mintage: unknown but very scarce.
