This specimen was lot 46036 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $90. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. 5 Shillings, 1695. Edinburgh Mint. William II. NGC F-12. Well centered with faint steel-blue and golden iridescence. Old scratches and marks noted under scrutiny, but nicely glossed to the naked eye. From the Loch Ness Collection." This type, struck 1695-1700, is roughly equal to a British sixpence. The Act of Union in 1707 ended the Scottish coinage. This example seems quite underweight.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 2.99 g, 0.917 fine silver, 19 mm diameter; this specimen 2.16 g.

Catalog reference: S-5688; KM-140.
