from Goldberg sale 98, lot 3137
Norway G98-3137r.jpg

This specimen was lot 3137 in Goldberg sale 98 (Los Angeles, June 2017), where it sold for $470. The catalog description[1] noted, "Norway. One Krone, 1915. KM-369. Haakon VII. A frosty brilliant white gem with pale golden tone about the periphery. A similarly graded NGC example realized $690 in a major US auction in Jan. 2011. NGC graded MS-65." This type is noted for 1908-17 but, despite the steady production, it is rather scarce. It is the last of the denomination struck in silver; its successor of 1925-51 (KM 385) was copper-nickel.

Recorded mintage: 498,000.

Specification: 7.5 g, 0.800 fine silver, .191 troy oz ASW, 31 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 369.
