Sincona sale 77, lot 3073

This specimen was lot 3073 in Sincona sale 77 (Zurich, May 2022), where it sold for 7,500 CHF (about US$9,104 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWEDEN. Adolph Friedrich, 1751-1771. Dukat 1753, Stockholm. Mit der Signatur HM (Hans Malmberg, Münzmeister in Stockholm, 1738-1762. Selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. NGC MS63. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (kingdom of Sweden, Adolf Frederick, 1751-71, ducat of 1753, Stockholm mint, with mintmaster's initials "HM". Rare, especially in this condition. Magnificent condition, uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1752-70 in very small quantities and is today very rare.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.976 fine gold, this specimen 3.48 g.
