Aureo sale 238, lot 19

This specimen was lot 19 in Aureo & Calicó sale 238 (Barcelona, November 2011), where it sold for 420 euro (about US$666 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1693. Nápoles. IM-AG/A. 1 ducado. Rayitas. Bonita pátina. Rara así. EBC-. (Kingdom of Naples, ducado of 1693. scratches, nice toning, rare, about extremely fine.)"

The SCWC lists this scarce coin under the kingdom of Naples, then under Spanish rule. This type is listed for 1693 only. The degenerate Charles II was the last Hapsburg king of Spain.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: Fabrizi 294, Pannuti-Riccio 3, Vti. 194, Dav-4047.
