Künker sale 385, lot 3828

This specimen was lot 3828 in Künker sale 385 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €1,400 (about US$1,809 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Franz II. 1792-1804. Dukat 1794, E, Karlsburg. GOLD. Fast vorzüglich. Erworben 1996 bei der Firma M. Meister. (Holy Roman Empire, Francis II, 1792-1804, ducat of 1794, Karlsburg mint. About extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1792-1804 at Vienna (A), Kremnitz (B), Prague (C), Karlsburg (E, shown here), Hall (F) and Nagybanya (G). Friedberg lists this date under Transylvania but the design is strictly Austrian.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.49 g.

Catalog reference: KM 1886, Fr-212; J. 110.
