Stack's Bowers 2022 NYINC sale, lot 1466

This specimen was lot 1466 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Utrecht. 2 Ducats, 1657. NGC AU-55. This decently preserved example exhibits a good strike on a somewhat wavy planchet with signs of handling consistent for the grade displaying a pale golden coloration." The SCWC divides these double ducats into KM 42.1 (struck 1650-58) and KM 42.2 (struck 1660, 1666-69, 1683-84, 1688-1794).
