Shown is a quart d'écu aux trois couronnes (quarter écu with three crowns) struck at the Paris mint in the last years of Louis XIV's reign. This is the last type of quarter écu struck during the French Sun King's life. The type was struck 1709-15 in substantial numbers. There are also tenth, half and one écus struck during this period with this design. This date is somewhat scarce; Droulers[1] prices it about 75% higher than the common date (1711-A).

Specification: 7.64 g, 0.917 fine silver, reeded edge, 28-29 mm diameter, designed by Norbert Roëttiers.
