This specimen was lot 23949 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $1,410. The catalog description[1] noted, "João VI Prince Regent gold 6400 Reis 1812-R, AU58 NGC. Strong bust with full details in the king's hair. Choice reverse. From The RLM Collection, Part II." The type was struck 1805-17 with the portrait of João as Prince Regent (he later became king João VI).
Recorded mintage: 64,000.
Specification: 14.34 g, 0.917 fine gold, .423 troy oz AGW.
