This specimen was lot 12069 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $1,645. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRAZIL. 4,000 Reis, 1812. Rio De Janeiro Mint. NGC MS-64." This type is known from Bahia (1805-16) and Rio (1808-17) and is common. This type is the most common of the "moidores."
