This eight reales cob-type coin (struck on planchets intended for milled coins) was lot 516 in Cayon Subastas (Madrid, Feb 4, 2012), where it sold for about US$1009. The catalog description[1] noted, "Guatemala. 8 reales. 1745. (J). BC+. Jara, en su obra Historia de la Casa de Moneda de Guatemala, la clasifica como Extraordinariamente Rara, menos de diez ejemplares conocidos (págs 174-176). (Guatemala 8 reales 1745. Fine plus. Jara, in his history of the Casa de Moneda of Guatemala, classifies this date as extremely rare, less than ten examples known (pages 174-176))."
