This specimen was lot 30297 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it sold for $8,812.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Willem II gold 10 Gulden 1842 MS61 NGC, Utrecht mint. Fleur de lis privy mark. Remarkable in all regards, this stunning selection features the stately bust of Willem II and crowned coat of arms. With brilliant, reflective fields that exhibit minor hairlining, this offering absolutely delights with buttery-gold surfaces and fully-rendered, crisp design elements. With a scant mintage of just 860 pieces, this one-year type is rarely available in the marketplace, which makes this this mint-state specimen all the more deserving of great attention." This type was struck 1842 only at Utrecht and is rare.
Recorded mintage: 860.
Specification: 6.73 g, 0.900 fine gold, .194 troy oz AGW.
