The first specimen was lot 5006 in Goldberg sale 72 (Los Angeles, February 2013), where it sold for $437. The catalog description[2] noted, "Iran. Azadi, SH1374 (1995). Central Bank of Islamic Republic of Iran. Brilliant Uncirculated." The second specimen was lot 1230 in Jean Elsen sale 148 (Brussels, September 2021), where it sold for €320 (about US$454 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN, Islamic Republic (AD 1979- /SH 1358- ) AV azadi, SH 1374 (2007). Ayatollah Khomeini. In original plastic holder. Proof." This type, struck SH 1370-1375, was minted to the standard of a British sovereign. Gold quarter, half, 2½ and five azadis also exist. The coins generally trade as bullion coins.
