This specimen was lot 22748 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $110. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 4 Pence, 1784. London Mint. George III. PCGS MS-64 Gold Shield. A lovely near-Gem example that shows minimal handling." This type was struck 1763-86 and, tho not rare, is difficult to find in nice condition. This specimen was probably taken from a Maundy set.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 2.01 g, 0.925 fine silver.
Catalog reference: KM-596.1; S-3750.
