This specimen was lot 71351 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Maundy 2 Pence, 1784. London Mint. George III. NGC MS-65. Incredibly toned with a rather vibrant nature, this exquisite specimen offers hues of deep cobalt and violet along with an intoxicating level of luster radiating from beneath." This type was struck 1763-66, 1772, 1776, 1780-86 and, tho not rare, is difficult to find in nice condition. It is probably the last of the denomination to actually circulate.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.00 g, 0.925 fine silver.

Catalog reference: S-3756; KM-595.
