This specimen was lot 33270 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "Muhammad Reza Pahlavi Shah gold 2-1/2 Pahlavi SH 1352 (1973) MS65 NGC. Mintage of 3,000 pieces. Brilliant golden color with a prime quality appearance." This denomination, equal to 2½ British sovereigns, was struck intermittently 1959-79. Gold one, five (Fr-99) and ten pahlavis also exist. The coins generally trade as bullion coins.

Recorded mintage: 3,000.

Specification: 20.34 g, .900 fine gold, AGW 0.5886 oz.
