Heritage sale 3021, lot 20352
China 1981 200 yuan rev Heritage 3021-20352.jpg

This specimen was lot 20352 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $4,259.38. The catalog description[2] noted, "People's Republic gold 200 Yuan 1981 Bronze Age Leopard, PF68 NGC, a superb example with a lovely cameo effect." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more. This specimen realized over double the already substantial catalog value. This, which was included in a set of four commemoratives (KM 46, KM 47, KM 48, KM 49), is among the first NCLT's issued by the regime.

Recorded mintage: 1,000.

Specification: 8.47 g, .917 fine gold, .250 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: KM 46.
