This type is listed for 1760-76. It was struck for George III, he mentioned in the Declaration of Independence. A similar type was struck 1741-60 for George II, his grandfather and another type with a modified obverse is noted for 1780-88 (KM 330.2). Other pfennings include a monogram obverse (KM 360) and St. Andrew on the obverse (KM 380). The Duchy of Brunswick was divided and subdivided in the seventeenth century but was eventually reassembled as the Kingdom of Hannover before being absorbed into Prussia in 1866.
Recorded mintage: unknown but fairly common.
