This specimen was lot 41328 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $264. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Germany|GERMANY]]. [[German States, Brunswick-Luneburg|Brunswick-Luneburg]]: Calenberg. 2/3 Taler, 1685. Zellerfeld Mint. Ernst August, as Bishop of Osnabruck. PCGS AU-58. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type, struck 1680-93, is rather scarce in nice condition. Another two-thirds thaler exists with a leaping stallion design (KM 263). Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg and Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle were traded back and forth between brothers until death left only one, who became the elector of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover ("Hannover" for short) and later king of England.
