Sincona sale 51, lot 3170

This specimen was lot 3170 in Sincona sale 51 (Zurich, October 2018), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$422 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel, Herzogtum, Heinrich Julius, 1589-1613. Taler 1605, Andreasberg. Ausbeute der Grube St. Andreasberg. Gutes sehr schön. Feine Patina. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Henry Julius, 1589-1613, thaler of 1605, for the St. Andrew mine. Good very fine, Nice toning.)"

This type was struck 1604-05, and is not rare, particularly for a mining thaler.

Recorded mintage: unknown.
