Goldberg sale 128, lot 1990

This specimen was lot 1990 in Goldberg sale 128 (Los Angeles, June 2022), where it sold for $90. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italian States: Naples. Tari, ND. Philip II, 1554-98. Bust left, monogram in field. Reverse: Crowned arms. NGC graded Extremely Fine Detail (Mount Removed)." The portrait is of Philip II of Spain. The Spanish Hapsburgs ruled Naples and Sicily as part of their Aragonese inheritance from the death of Ferdinand the Catholic in 1517 until the death of Charles II in 1700. Twelve tari made a piastra.
