Aureo sale 243, lot 676

This specimen was lot 676 in Aureo y Calicó sale 243 (Barcelona, April 2012), where it sold for 110 € (about US$166 including buyer's fees). The catalog[1] noted,

"1803. Carlos IV. Madrid. FA. 1 real. Leves rayitas. Buen ejemplar. Escasa así. MBC+/EBC-. (one real of 1803, Madrid mint. Light marks, good example, scarce thus, very fine to extremely fine.)"

It is one of a series minted in Spain 1788-1808 for Charles IV. The type is listed quite low in the SCWC but is very hard to find.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.38 g, .812 fine silver, .088 troy oz ASW.
