Goldberg sale 55, lot 1037

This specimen was lot 1037 in Goldberg sale 55 (Beverly Hills, October 2009), where it sold for $1380. The catalog description[1] noted, "Guatemala. 10 Pesos, 1869-R. Head of Carrera with title of founder. Reverse: Arms. One year type. Original mint luster. NGC graded AU-58." In 1869, gold four, five, eight, 16 and twenty pesos pieces were struck in addition to the ten pesos shown here.

Recorded mintage: 20,000.

Specification: 16.12 g, .900 fine gold, .4667 troy oz AGW.
