Jean Elsen sale 150, lot 1488

This specimen was lot 1488 in Jean Elsen sale 150 (Brussels, March 2022), where it sold for €7,000 (about US$9,281 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"AUTRICHE, République (1918-), AV 100 Schilling, 1935. Mariazell. Seulement 951 p. frappées. Très rare Fines griffes. Flan poli. Superbe/Fleur de Coin. (republic of Austria, since 1918, gold hundred schilling, Mariazell, only 951 pieces struck. Very rare, fine scratches, polished blank, Extremely Fine/Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck in limited numbers 1935-38 just prior to the anschluss with Nazi Germany. It is accompanied by a silver five schilling (KM 2853).

Recorded mintage: 951.

Specification: 23.52 g, 0.900 fine gold.
