This specimen was lot 4268 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €1,300 (about US$1,679 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, <blockquote>"''5 Reichsmark 1930, G. Eichbaum. RR Sehr schön-vorzüglich.'' (Germany, Weimar republic, five reichsmark of 1930. Rare, very fine to extremely fine.)"</blockquote> This type, issued 1927-33, was struck in large numbers in Berlin ("A"), Munich ("D", shown here), Muldenhutten ("E"), Stuttgart ("F"), Karlsrule ("G") and Hamburg ("J"). It is, however, expensive; perhaps they were melted during World War Two. We have included it in our category of thalers based on its size, even tho it is only .500 fine.
