The specimen shown was lot 655 in Cayon Subastas sale in Madrid, on February 4 2012, where it sold for 5,600 € (about US$8,986 including buyer's fees). The catalog description ^[1] noted,

"Sevilla. 8 reales. 1707. M. EBC, restos de brillo original. Bonito tono. Rarísima. Más aún en esta soberbia conservación.(Seville eight reales of 1707-M. AU, some original luster. Nice toning. Very rare. Magnificent conservation.)"

This type was issued at Madrid and Seville 1704-13. The succeeding type featured a larger crown. All the early eight reales of Spain are rare and expensive.
