This specimen was lot 71284 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it sold for $284. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. Copiapo. Peso, 1865. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. A restrike of siege coinage, issued during the Blockade of Puerto de Caldera. A well engraved example of the type with no points of design weakness, and endowed with a grayish brown tone." All or nearly all the known specimens are restrikes along with the Copiapo 50 centavos.
