Sincona sale 59, lot 1480
Alsace and Strasbourg in 1547

This specimen was lot 1480 in Sincona sale 59 (Zurich, October 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE | Murbach und Lüders, Abtei, Johann Ulrich von Raitenau, 1570-1587. Guldentaler o. J. St. Amarin. Sehr selten. Vorzüglich. Prachtvolle Erhaltung mit hübscher Patina. (France, abbey of Murbach and Luders, John Ulrich of Raitenau, 1570-87, undated guldenthaler, St. Amarin mint. Very rare, Extremely fine, Beautiful condition with nice patina.)"

This obscure issue is from the long-vanished Abbey of Murbach and Luders in upper Alsace. The region, then part of the Empire, is now firmly part of France.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, this specimen 24.47 g.

Catalog reference: Divo 44 var., Dav-10029.
