This type was struck 1974-86 by the Utrecht mint for the former Dutch colony of Surinam, which obtained independence in 1975. It is descended from a bronze type (KM 11) struck 1962-72.

Recorded mintage: 8,000,000.

Specification: 0.80 g, aluminum, 18 mm diameter.
