This type was struck 1962, 1966, 1971-82, 1985-86 by the Utrecht mint for the former Dutch colony of Surinam, which obtained independence in 1975. It superseded by a nickel plated steel type (KM 13a) produced at the Royal Mint starting in 1987.

Recorded mintage: 1,000,000.

Specification: 2 g, copper-nickel, 16 mm diameter.
