This specimen is a common date of a series struck 1874-93 at the Hermosillo mint. This ten centavos piece replaced the silver one real struck since colonial times. Several transitional designs were issued 1863-70, including one by the Maximilian regime, before settling on this type. It, in turn, was replaced by a ten centavos piece with a redesigned reverse in 1898. This specimen was lot 8954 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $632.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Hermosillo. 10 Centavos, 1892-HoG. Beautifully toned. NGC MS-67."

Specification: 2.71 g, .903 fine silver, .078 troy oz ASW.

Recorded mintage: 67,000.

Catalog reference: KM 403.6.
