Wurttemberg 1810 ILW thaler Dav-943
The first specimen was lot 446 in UBS sale 85 (Zürich, September 2010), where it sold for 850 CHF (about US$970 including buyer's fee). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Württemberg, 1806 Königreich Friedrich II. (I.), 1797-1816. Kronentaler 1810. Schrötlingsf. Av. Sehr schön-gutes sehr schön." (Kingdom of Württemberg, Frederick II (1797-1816), kronenthaler of 1810. Very fine to good very fine.)
The second specimen was lot 3531 in Künker sale 440 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,339 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH Friedrich II. (I.), 1797-1806-1816. Kronentaler 1810. Stempelschneider Johann Ludwig Wagner. Mit Randschrift: KOENIGL : WURTTEMB : KRONENTHALER · * * ·. Fast vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Gerhard Hirsch Nachf. 256, München 2008, Nr. 1663. (kingdom of Württemberg, Frederick I, 1806-16, crown thaler of 1810, with edge lettering. About extremely fine.)"
The third specimen was lot 3532 in the same sale, where it sold for €900 (about US$1,238 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH Friedrich II. (I.), 1797-1806-1816. Kronentaler 1810. Stempelschneider Johann Ludwig Wagner. Mit gedrungenem Kopfbild. Mit Randschrift: KOENIGL : WURTTEMB : KRONENTHALER · * * ·. Leicht justiert, kl. Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schön-vorzüglich. Exemplar der Slg. Schlossberger, Auktion Gerhard Hirsch Nachf. 181, München 1994, Nr. 2400. (kingdom of Württemberg, Frederick I, 1806-16, crown thaler of 1810, with a stocky head profile and edge lettering. Lightly adjusted, small planchet defects, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1810 in several varieties, all of which are rare. Later vereinsthaler from the 1850's are much more available.
Recorded mintage: unknown but few.
Specification: 29.49 g, 0.868 fine silver, lettered edge, the first, second and third specimens are 29,45 g.
