Stack's Bowers 2026 NYINC sale, lot 43040

This specimen was lot 43040 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $8,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Salzburg. 1/2 Taler, 1694. Salzburg Mint. Johann Ernst. NGC MS-66★. A tremendous premium Gem specimen, with rich lustrous charm, handsome rainbow tone, and bountiful appeal." This type is listed for 1687, 1694-95, 1698-1708 and is priced the same as the thaler.
