Sincona sale 98, lot 4104

This specimen was lot 4104 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,466 including buyers' fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, Halbtaler 1680, Bern. Sehr seltener Jahrgang. Sehr schön. (Switzerland, city and canton of Bern, half thaler of 1680, Bern mint. Very rare date, Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1679-80; the 1680 is the much rarer date.

Specification: 13.36-13.48 g, silver, 34 mm diameter, this specimen 13.40 g.
