This specimen was lot 5171 in Sincona sale 68 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 26,000 CHF (about US$34,229 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND | Bern | Stadt und Kanton, 3 Dukaten 1680, Bern. Zwei ovale Berner Wappen einander gegenübergestellt. Darüber jeweils ein Puttenkopf. Oben Krone über dem Münzmeisterzeichen B für den Stempelschneider Johann Georg Burckhard sowie zwei Palmzweige. Unten die Wertzahl 3. Rv. Mann und Frau halten ein Tuch mit Inschrift und Jahreszahl. Sehr selten. Fast FDC. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (city and canton of Bern, triple ducat of 1680, Bern mint. Obverse: two oval arms of the city, cherub's heads, two palm branches, crown and the mintmaster's initial above; reverse: a man and woman support drapery with the motto and date. Very rare, About uncirculated, Magnificent condition.)"
This rare type was also struck 1684, 1697 and 1707. It accompanied a similar quadruple ducat (Fr-131).
