This specimen was lot 49039 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $630. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Zwolle. Ducat, 1639. NGC AU Details--Bent. From the Leo Ullman Collection of Dutch Gold Coins." Zwolle is a town in the province of Overijssel. This ducat was struck in the name of emperor Ferdinand II (r. 1619-37) for 1633-76. The States General spent most of the seventeenth century trying to close the municipal mints for fraud and lightweight coinage, and Zwolle was often cited as the worst offender.
