Sincona sale 102, lot 5699

This specimen was lot 5698 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 450 CHF (about US$678 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ. Zürich. Stadt und Kanton, Taler 1794, Zürich. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Gutes vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, thaler of 1794, Zürich mint. Rare in this condition. About Uncirculated.)"

This is a three year type issued 1783, 1794 and 1796. In 1798, the canton of Zürich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.

Specification: 28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver, 39 mm diameter, this specimen 25.14 g.
