Zurich 1786 1/2 thaler
This specimen was lot 5698 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$302 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ. Zürich. Stadt und Kanton Halbtaler 1786, Zürich. Flaue Stellen. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, half thaler of 1786, Zürich mint. Some weakly struck areas. About Uncirculated.)"
This is a five year type issued 1783, 1786, 1788, 1794 and 1798. Both Numista and the SCWC state this issue should have a mintmark "B", which is invisible on this example. In 1798, the canton of Zürich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.
