Sincona sale 102, lot 5696

This specimen was lot 5696 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$603 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ. Zürich. Stadt und Kanton Taler 1780, Zürich. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Feine Patina. Gutes vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, thaler of 1780, Zürich mint. Rare in this condition. Nicely toned. About Uncirculated.)"

This type was issued 1780 only. In 1798, the canton of Zürich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.

Specification: silver, 39 mm diameter, this specimen 26.43 g.
